GL events UK offers modular demountable seating systems which can be used on either a permanent or temporary basis, across a wide range of applications. Every seating solution is designed and calculated specifically by our in-house designers who have a wealth of experience in ensuring the best lines of sight, for the ultimate spectator experience. What's more, our solutions exceed the specified requirements of the The Guide to Safety at Sports Grounds, commonly referred to as "The Green Guide", ensuring that we provide our clients with the highest levels of safety, comfort and amenity for all spectators.
Our row rises ensure good lines of sight, wherever you are seated in a grandstand and prevent spectators from having to stand to obtain a better view. What's more, the closed risers within our grandstands mean there are no gaps in the flooring, giving spectators peace of mind that they won't lose phones or other personal belongings if they drop something while seated in the grandstand.
Our solutions can also include a range of add-on features, which can be included in your bespoke seating solution as required. These include commentary boxes, walkways and bridges, AV and audio equipment, toilets and retail facilities, all built into the structure.

Our flat floor seating can be used on its own as a simple seating solution or in combination with temporary grandstands, to make the most of the capacity of a venue, or to offer alternative viewing options.
Flat floor seating can be ideal for events where space is not at a premium, and where line of sight is not key – popular examples of usage include conferences, graduations and speech days as well as music concerts and other outdoor events.
Our self-tipping seats are interchangeable for use on our grandstand or floor track so that audiences are guaranteed the same level of comfort, wherever they are sitting – an important consideration if you are planning an event where people will be seated for any length of time.

Outdoor events
As the way in which spectators follow a sporting event evolves, standing platforms are becoming more popular, often in conjunction with temporary grandstand seating. Standing platforms are particularly popular in golfing events, as spectators become more mobile, following the players and action around the course rather than being seated in one place throughout play.
Standing platforms offer versatility, allowing spectators to access a low-level viewing area quickly and easily. Once play has occurred the spectators can move on to the next area of the course and take up position again. Quick to install, and relatively small compared to a temporary grandstand, they can be installed at multiple locations across a sporting venue or site.

The increase in the televisation of sporting events, especially those taking place over a large geographical area, such as a golf course, has led to changes in the way in which the action is filmed. Unable to rely solely on fixed camera points and cameras located at ground level, more and more broadcasters are opting for camera towers which, thanks to their elevated position, offer a birds eye view of the action, even when some distance away.
GL events has a track record of delivering TV and camera towers, particularly for golfing events. Constructed from scaffolding, towers have the benefit of being totally bespoke to our client’s requirements. They can be stand alone or built into existing grandstand structures. They come in a range of different height options depending on the distance over which they are capturing the action. And they can of course be clad, scrimmed or branded in conjunction with the over branding of the event, helping them to either blend into the background or the venue, or stand out as useful reference points for a tee, or a particular area of the course.

FAQs
What is a grandstand?
While the dictionary definition suggests that a grandstand is usually roofed or usually permanent, the reality is that it can be either roofed or unroofed, and permanent or temporary. It is in essence, a tiered structure or stand to allow spectators to view an event. While grandstands are often associated with sport (particularly football and horse racing), they can be used to accommodate spectators at any event – sporting or otherwise and can be constructed in almost any size or configuration.
How much does grandstand seating cost?
The overall cost of a temporary seating project, typically depends on a number of factors. The first question is always how many seats – this is because GL events is able to calculate a rough cost per seat. However the other factors which influence price are the location of the event, the type of grandstand seating required and whether you require seat covers, numbering etc, how long the installation and dismantle windows are, and crucially how long the period of rental is.
What size is your seating available in?
GL events’ standard seat dimensions are based around an 800mm tread depth and a 500mm seat depth. In terms of the dimensions of a grandstand itself, the sky really is the limit as the design of our grandstands can be entirely bespoke to the requirements of our client and the discussion begins with the number of seats required. Typically grandstands start at around 50 seats, and can go up to 10,000 seats or more.
How many temporary seats can be installed on a site?
The number of temporary seats that can be installed depends on the space available, or footprint of the grandstand. It is a common misconception that the rake or pitch of the grandstand impacts on the number of seats installed, however this is not the case. Based on our seat dimensions and the square meterage available on site, we can calculate the number of seats which can be accommodated within the grandstand, allowing for aisles and vomitories or exits, to ensure that the stand meets Green Guide standards for fire safety.
What is temporary seating and what is it used for?
Temporary seating falls into two main categories – temporary tiered seating and temporary flat floor seating. The two types can be used in combination or used separately. Temporary seating comprises two elements – the seat (usually plastic) and a scaffold system or frame which holds the seat and, in the case of tiered seating, creates the tier – also known as a rise or rake. It is used when there is a short-term requirement for seating for a specific use – usually an event of some kind. Temporary seating can be used outdoors or indoors and installed on a variety of surfaces. It can be used for almost anything. Depending on the time of year, GL events can install temporary seating within around 8 weeks of initial enquiry but at quieter times of the year, this lead time can be much reduced.
What type of event is temporary seating suitable for?
The short answer is that GL events’ temporary seating is suitable for really any event that requires the spectator to have a good viewing platform. Temporary seating can be used for all manner of sporting events, as well as graduations and speech days, and passing out parades, conferences and concerts and TV production, and theatre. These are only a few of the possible applications, so if you need temporary seating for something else, let’s talk! We can install outdoor seating and indoor seating for hire periods ranging from a single day, to semi-permanent usage or several years!
