Modern & adaptable clearspan marquees

GL events UK’s event services include a range of Clearspan marquees for hire. Clearspan marquees are constructed with a contemporary aluminium frame and soft sides, offering an affordable, large-scale solution for exhibitions, agricultural events, sporting and corporate hospitality events and religious festivals.

Single span Clearspan structures are available in widths of 15m, 20m and 25m and virtually any length. The perfect option for any event, Clearspan marquees can also be gutter linked to create even more floor area, or to zones for dining, receptions, bars and catering.

The range is available with white or opaque roof skins, which are ideal for any corporate event or seminar that incorporates audio visual presentations.

Traditional pole or Showspan event marquee hire

GL events UK’s pole tent traditional marquee combines elegance and graceful style, with the technical ability to cover just about any required space.

It is ideal for a variety of applications, from a basic marquee shell at agricultural festivals and shows, to a fully lined, floored and carpeted corporate marquee for more glamorous events.

Alternatively, hiring a Showspan marquee is a great option where a larger marquee is required. These giant tensioned tents have a standard width of 90ft, while the length of the Showspan marquee can be customised to your event’s requirements.

Stunning outdoor hospitality spaces

Distinctively styled in either a square or hexagonal design with a peaked roof, GL events UK's pagodas are ideal for use as retail, bar and catering outlets. Alternatively they can be used to create an impactful entrance way, canopy or walkway, as breakout rooms from larger venues, or as a versatile standalone space in its own right.

Pagoda marquees are particularly well suited to act as a small trade stand at outdoor shows and exhibitions, thanks to their size and ease of installation. Our Ultimate, Piazza or Garden pagoda structures are available in three separate sizes (3x3m, 4x4m and 5x5m) with a standard wall height of 2.44m and a variable ridge height from 4.22m up to 5.5m.

A pagoda marquee can be installed in less than two hours, making it an ideal solution when you need an event structure installed and taken down again quickly and easily, or when you have multiple structures to erect for a single event.

FAQs

How much does an event cost?

The cost of an event can vary tremendously. One of the biggest factors in determining this, is deciding what’s most important for you to have at the event. I.e. are catering and toilets more important than entertainment? In the early planning stages, these are the sort of questions we will ask you – then we can tailor a package to meet your budget expectations, within reason.

What sizes do GL events’ structures come in?

Effectively we can deliver anything from 9 square metres, to say, 20,000 square metres! The smallest width structure we have in our range is 2.5 or 3m. The largest span available is 50m and there are a wide range of sizes in between. Different structures are more suitable for different types of use and different types of configuration. So start by having a conversation with us about your needs and we’ll go from there.

What size marquee do I need for my event?

As a general rule of thumb, the size of marquee you need depends on what you are using the marquee for, and how many guests it needs to hold. We work on a square metre rate per person which is set out in the Purple Guide (the HSE guidance for event organisers and suppliers).

For example, for kitchen space we would suggest .75m per person. For Meet & Greet, this increases to 1m, for sit down dining up to 2.5m and for dining with big production it can be as much as 3m. Your marquee layout must also allow for the correct aisle and door widths to allow egress in the event of a fire.

Do I need permission to put up a marquee for my event?

Planning permission is not required if the marquee is up for less than 28 days. However, if you are selling alcohol or having entertainment, you will need to apply for specific licences for these. Factors like traffic management and event and fire safety may also mean you require a licence or local authority permissions but this depends largely on the size of the event you are planning.

What are the advantages of hiring a marquee?

One of the main advantages of hiring a marquee is the ability to have it where you want it, within reason! This means that you have total ownership of the venue, and you are not restricted in terms of branding (which might not be the case if you hold your event in a permanent venue which is already sponsored). Capacity is another advantage as the capacity of a marquee is more flexible than that of a fixed venue. And finally, you have far more scope to tailor the look and feel of your temporary structure.

How can I customise my marquee?

Subject to budget, you can pretty much customise every aspect of your marquee – far more so than would be possible in a permanent venue. For example, you can determine everything from the colour of the carpets and staff uniforms, the table linen and chairs, to the drinks that are being sold. Through theming, you can completely transform the interior of your marquee with a range of effects which can be hired in or manufactured specifically for your event.

What are pagodas and what are they used for?

Pagoda is a generic term for what is often referred to as a “pointy hat” or “Chinese hat” type of marquee because of its shape. Aesthetically, they are attractive structures. They are also very practical because they are modular – so can be linked together to create intricate shapes and designs. Take a look at our Pagoda page, to get inspiration on how pagodas are commonly used.
