GL events UK provided temporary infrastructure and overlay for the 2019 Solheim Cup, the UK’s best attended women’s golf event, which took place at Gleneagles Golf Club, 9 – 15 September 2019.

Team Europe reclaimed the Solheim Cup during this contest, a highlight of the world’s sporting calendar. Head-to-head match play was complimented by a festival of entertainment, set against the stunning backdrop of the Perthshire hills.

GL events installed temporary seating and a wide range of temporary structures, shaping the event’s spectator village. 

The Cup’s Opening Ceremony was held in the village, featuring music from local as well as world-famous bands and was televised around the world.

GL events provided 3,500 Samsonite Chairs that were installed in 16 blocks and cable-tied together by hand to ensure the formation remained in place, ensuring a seamless viewing experience for attendees

Following the opening ceremony, the GL events operations team skillfully adapted the seating layout, removing 12 blocks and leaving four blocks in place to accommodate on-stage activities throughout the remainder of the tournament.

Our temporary structures meanwhile were home to a hive of activity in the Spectator Village, where visitors could enjoy activities ranging from crazy golf and mini ride-on tractors for children, to brand activations, refreshments and a fan zone complete with golfing challenges. The structures served as hubs of engagement, enriching the overall experience for attendees.

GL events’ installation included a 40m hospitality venue; a 10m golf demonstration zone; a series of hexagonal tents, used as information, retail and brand activation spaces and an array of premium 10m and 20m structures, complete with clear roofs and branding, where spectators could enjoy leisure activities during their visit.

A total of 6,200sqm of lined and carpeted temporary space was designed and created for the event, complete with an additional 6,000sqm of flooring to create a stylish visitor walkway throughout the Village.
